the difference between scripts tv stage and screen play/ film scripts
film scripts are not ment to be read as Literature also a blue print is what a finished screen play is called not only this a tv and a film scripts end peice are seen in different ways a film would be seen at a cinema and a tv script only for a tv not only this a tv script will be shown over a period of episodes wheras a film script will a be a longer one peice this wheras a stage play can vary in length and can either tour or be based in one theartre.
The formatting of a TV script relies quite a bit on the use of capital letters to show aural sections of the scene. the scripts must contain all capitals whilst the video collum can stay in lower case . also a tv script gives estimated timing on each dialogue section whereas a stage script would not they do this incase of live performances however the format of a movie script nly requies capitals for a charecters name this is also the same with a stage script , a scene heading and a shot transiotion obviously a stage play does not need a screen change or shot transition. also a movie script the margin and tabs are broken down into four elemnts such as dialogue, the charecter and the action and the scene location having this split into four make it easier to read the scene faster.
a stage play also doesnt include camra angles and wheras a tv script may not inlcudes stage directions however both cover a charecter sypnosis and a scene decription a tv script more so than a stage play.
see below script in the flesh from the bbc writers room the tv script starts with a decription of the setting of the scene the scripts also uses vo wich means voice over however they have not given a timing as it is not a live perfrormance
theartre scripts
contain
stage directions - so the actor knows where to move to or if he is doing a task - i have used these in hot chocolate to tell my charecter how to move and if she is sad or epression specially with julie - they should also be written in brackets
dialogue -
range of monologues and dueologues - julie has a monologue at the beggining this sets the pace of the rest of the story
charecters name
- this is seen above the line with a capital letter
scene number
- at the top of the page for example scene one act two
a list of cast members
- i have done a cast list with my script this helps show outfront who is playing who
a sypnopsis of what the scene is about
- i have done a brief blurb on what is happening in the scene
entrances and excits
- julie stays on stage for most of the performance however other charecters do enter so i have done this with brackets
strengths and weakness of my script (hot chocolate)
strengths - my plot and stucture are both original and intersting i also used good spacing of my dialoluge i think i used typical speech of a teenager using a slight amount of toungue and cheek this added lightnest script
weakness - i think my structure could be impoved also my grama and my spelling as i am dylexic i think these thing difficult in future i will spend more time on my written scripts or get someone else to check for me.
development - through each draft i have become more confident with my writing and i feel its becoming more stylised on each time i write it and i am using more stage direction and including more charecter motives.
in comparrision to other scripts such as screenplays wich are descendants of the circus side show
improvement from comparision when it comes to my script i should have inclused a cover sheet and title page however if a show is in production a tv scripts title page should include the name of the show and the title of the episode and the name of the writers contact info and if there is a name of a production comapany however a stage plays title should have the name of the peice and the authors name in this case it would be me and the name or details of my agent or living adress
telly play see below in the flesh script use multiple camera angles in comparison to my own script i think i could have used more media vocab like camera angles and transitions i think i should have also used a title page and could have improved my cast list wheras with my stage play i should have used more of a description at the beginning of the scenes i should have also used an ending
in comparrision to other scripts such as screenplays wich are descendants of the circus side show
. The scripts for the earliest films consisted mainly of description and no dialogue simila to a synopsis .
There is really only one type of theatrical screenplay format. The variations within the format are minor: margins, use of "MORE" and "CONTINUED" (or not), use of "(CONT'D)" or not, etc. As a script nears the filming stage, it may include specific camera angles, scene numbering, omitted dialogue notations, etc., but it's still quite recognizable as a theatrical screenplay.
also how the peice finishes for a screenplay they only need to include a slug line and a camra transition wheras a stage play usualy ends with either light down or curtain or in some cases the end
when it comes in to action and physcial movement screen plays and stage plays are formatted in upper an lower case text whereas in teleplays they are all written in capitals
For dialogue in stage plays, teleplays, and screenplays, character names preceding dialogue are typed in all caps and the dialogue itself appears in sentence-case text. However, in sitcom teleplays, the dialogue is double-spaced.
however , instructions for the actor appear by a character's dialogue.
I.
In a teleplay, personal direction appears by the dialogue
scenes from the soap opera
in this we decide to improvise and the outcome was pretty good we used a medium shot of maise and mines conversation and at eye level we did this so the audience feels they are included and they could be the camera aka the third person in that room,
how i think my script writing read though went
im so happy with how the script came across i think the single spot light in the begging dennoting isolation and the need to escape worked really well with the dance the spotlight also reminded me of the light to heaven signifying her mother in heaven then the contrast of bright flashing lights with the show section worked really well in the aspect of changing the mood of the audience from serious to comedy
i quite liked the simplistic of the props and having the play more visual than stage if i could i think it would have been good to have had a mike for maisie.
strengths - i think my story had a good pace to it this is due to the dance in the begging i also thing that my scripts was heart felt
i really enjoyed the dialogue between scarrlett and julie the contrast bettween the charecters lightened the mood of the play wich then helped relax the audience so that when the disruption of a venue problem happens the audience can feel the saddness that julies feels more so i wanted the audience to feel they were on a emotional rolercoaster
weakness - i think i could have had more rehersal time and perhaps some more props i think i need to look into this i think i should have also added make it to julies mum to make her look more ill .
development - i have used more setting.
what i would do different for next time and how i could develop the process - i think i would incorporate costumes and i will also add more sound and visal media to the script aka perhaps a projection of a waiting room in a hospital or old fashion film of a younger girl dancing in the beginning to make the peice more stylized as i like the idea of young and old
i also think that maybe my script could show more of the sub plot of her being a dancer and maybe have a scene withe her learning to dance in her mothers lesson as a flash back adding sentiment to the play i also think i could be fun to turn it into a trailer or film i actually think this would be easier at telling the story as u switch from one scene to another quicker through cutting.
also a documentary interests me cause we could film it as if it a real life event
and i would also like to look more into her father find a bit about his back story how he died and when and what relationship was there before he died
how i think my soap went
after all the hard work i put in to editing both soaps i felt relieved to finally see the finale product .
stengths - i think i kept my charecter strong through out the peice and i think my improvisation worked well as well as it seemed more raw and heart felt.
weakness - i think i could have gone further with my character maybe i could have looked into more types of mental illness and show this better however i wanted to keep it carm and relaxed.
what i could have done different - i think if i had more time i would have looked into mental health more and perhaps we could have incorporated this more also i think we could have done more close up shots of my facial expressions.
i also think if we had more of a budget for props we could have been better and we could have had better cameras to use however on a low buget i think we managed really well i think the scene with Lauren entering and me tracking behind her worked well however if we had better editing software we could have cut scenes better so we could do more close ups.
my character developed through the soap from seeing her leave her mental institute/ hospital and visit it her sister and towards the end before her death she starts to toughen up and becomes more confident and relaxed with people talking to her i did this to show vulnerability and how some people can judge to early ..
with more research and commitment from all people on the team we could have improved it. we started of with a script but decided to really take a Mike leigh approach scrapping the script early on and improvising most scenes make them appear more real life obviously soaps are dramatic so we had to keep this stereotype involved.
if i ever do this again i would like to get my filming one day and to spend longer editing also i would prefere to have people committed to the outcome personally i think i will stress less about the script and focus more on improv i think it works really well for me the scenes we used original script for with me look forced. i think i would also like to be more adventuress with my camra shots and use more of a varity. for example more close ups and more panning
i would also like to look into bernies charecter more and if we kept it as a series we could meet her brother and see where that goes the same with donna i would love to see wherre the charecters go to..

PLOT
The story is the idea, it can be the stimulus . You can easily create the same story over and over, and adjust the plot in order to create differences. This happens all the time in TV series, and within genre movies and books.
the structure is where you place the scenes for example am i going to use todorovs narrative theroy for my script writing "hot chocolate"suggests narrative is simply equilibrium, disequilibrium, new equilibrium my script starts with the dance ( the equilbrium) then her mother dies and her venue cancels (disequlibrium) and the ne equlibruim is the show being a succsess.

the storys abouve are real life events and when i came across this i knew that i had to do somthing about this i loved how brave these people are so this is my stimlus ...
strenghts i think by looking at real life storys it makes it more real and not me telling a story so in the play it will make things become more realistic.
weakness - i may get to caught up on the relationship after seeing reall relationships with aids and i very much want this to be a bout aids- to stop this from happening i will do more research on the ilness itself

HIV is a virus most commonly caught by having sex without a condom.
It can also be passed on by sharing infected needles and other injecting equipment, and from an HIV-positive mother to her child during pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding.
HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus. The virus attacks the immune system, and weakens your ability to fight infections and disease.
There is no cure for HIV, but there are treatments to enable most people with the virus to live a long and healthy life.
AIDS is the final stage of HIV infection, when your body can no longer fight life-threatening infections. With early diagnosis and effective treatment, most people with HIV will not go on to develop AIDS.
How is HIV spread?
HIV is found in the body fluids of an infected person, which includes semen, vaginal and anal fluids, blood and breast milk. It is a fragile virus and does not live very long outside the body.
HIV cannot be transmitted through sweat or urine.
The most common way of getting HIV in the UK is by anal or vaginal sex without a condom. According to statistics from the Health Protection Agency, 95% of those diagnosed with HIV in the UK in 2011 acquired HIV as a result of sexual contact.
Other ways of getting HIV include:
- using a contaminated needle, syringe or other injecting equipment
- tranmission from mother to baby during pregnancy, birth or breastfeeding
- through oral sex or sharing sex toys (although the risk is significantly lower than for anal and vaginal sex)
Read more about what causes HIV.
Getting tested
The only way to find out if you have HIV is to have an HIV test.
If you think you have put yourself at risk of HIV, you should seek medical advice and have a test as soon as recommended. The earlier HIV is detected, the more likely it is that treatment will be successful.
Emergency anti-HIV medication called PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) may stop you becoming infected, but treatment must be started within three days of coming into contact with the virus.
There are a number of places you can get an HIV test, including your GP surgery and sexual health clinics and clinics run by charities including the Terrence Higgins Trust.
Most HIV tests in the UK involve taking a small sample of blood and sending this to a laboratory for analysis. These tests can provide a reliable result from four weeks after possible infection. It is now also possible to test using a saliva sample or pin-prick (blood-spot) test, but these tests do not reliably detect HIV as early as laboratory tests.
You may get the results in hours, days or weeks, depending on the type of test you take.
If your test is positive, you will be referred to a specialist HIV clinic where you'll have more blood tests to show what effect HIV is having on your immune system and be able to discuss treatment options.
Find out more about coping with a positive HIV test.
Anyone who has sex without a condom or shares needles is at risk of HIV infection. However, the two groups with highest rates of HIV in the UK are gay and bisexual men and African men and women.
NICE recommends that annual HIV tests be offered to all men who have sex with men, and more frequent testing be offered to those at higher risk due to multiple partners or unsafe sexual practices.
Living with HIV
Although there is no cure for HIV, treatments are now very effective, enabling people with HIV to live long and healthy lives.
Medication, known as antiretrovirals, works by slowing down the damage the virus does to the immune system. These medicines come in the form of tablets, which need to be taken every day.
You will be encouraged to take regular exercise, eat a healthy diet, stop smoking and have yearly flu jabs and five-yearly pneumococcal vaccinations to minimise the risk of getting serious illnesses.
Without treatment, a person with HIV's immune system will become seriously damaged and they will develop life-threatening illnesses such as cancer. This is known as late-stage HIV infection or AIDS.

Preventing HIV
Anyone who has sex without a condom or shares needles is at risk of HIV infection.
The best way to prevent HIV is to use a condom for sex and to never share needles or other injecting equipment (including syringes, spoons and swabs).
How common is HIV?
At the end of 2012, there were an estimated 98,400 people in the UK living with HIV. The majority were infected through sex (41,000 gay and bisexual men and 53,000 heterosexuals).
More than 1 in 5 people with HIV (over 20,000) do not know they are infected.
Around 1 in every 650 people in the UK has HIV but the two groups with highest rates of HIV are gay and bisexual men and African men and women, where the rates are approximately 1 in 20 and 1 in 25 respectively.
The World Health Organization estimates that around 34 million people in the world are living with HIV.
The virus is particularly widespread in sub-Saharan African countries, such as South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

as i am doing such a sensitive subeject i though it should be important that i got my facts right so i have researched more into aids and people do not die from aids they die from catching somthing from aids like if ur cd4 count drops bellow 200 you could get pneumonia ortuberculosis below is more research from the nhs website soap operah
during the production i wrote the original draft (see bellow) even tho we add libbed towards the end my whole monologue during the soap is ad libbed i have also edited the soap operah using windows movie maker .
stengths - i found making the script hard but enjoyed getting my feelings our i prefered ablibbing as i felt more natural however i can see that a soap operah is not ment to be realism and is ment to be slightly over the top.
weakness - finding time when we were all together was hard also keeping evryones focus its very different to being on the stage.
if i could do this agin i think i would film a lot earlier and in one go i would also take the footage straight away and edit it at home.

Human immunodeficiency virus infection / acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) is a disease of the humanimmune system caused by infection with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).[1] During the initial infection, a person may experience a brief period of influenza-like illness. This is typically followed by a prolonged period without symptoms. As the illness progresses, it interferes more and more with the immune system, making the person much more likely to get infections, including opportunistic infections and tumors that do not usually affect people who have working immune systems.
HIV is transmitted primarily via unprotected sexual intercourse (including anal and oral sex), contaminated blood transfusions, hypodermic needles, and from mother to child during pregnancy, delivery, or breastfeeding.[2] Some bodily fluids, such as saliva and tears, do not transmit HIV.[3] Prevention of HIV infection, primarily through safe sex and needle-exchange programs, is a key strategy to control the spread of the disease. There is no cure or vaccine; however, antiretroviral treatment can slow the course of the disease and may lead to a near-normal life expectancy. While antiretroviral treatment reduces the risk of death and complications from the disease, these medications are expensive and have side effects. Without treatment, the average survival time after infection with HIV is estimated to be 9 to 11 years, depending on the HIV subtype.[4]
Genetic research indicates that HIV originated in west-central Africa during the late nineteenth or early twentieth century.[5] AIDS was first recognized by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in 1981 and its cause—HIV infection—was identified in the early part of the decade.[6] Since its discovery, AIDS has caused an estimated 36 million deaths worldwide (as of 2012).[7] As of 2012, approximately 35.3 million people are living with HIV globally.[7] HIV/AIDS is considered a pandemic—a disease outbreak which is present over a large area and is actively spreading.[8]
HIV/AIDS has had a great impact on society, both as an illness and as a source of discrimination. The disease also has significanteconomic impacts. There are many misconceptions about HIV/AIDS such as the belief that it can be transmitted by casual non-sexual contact. The disease has also become subject to many controversies involving religion. It has attracted international medical and political attention as well as large-scale funding since it was identified in the 1980s.[9]

- is what ill base as my illness that kills julies mum
- i looked on line and couldnt find any storys with a mother and daughter wiith one of them having the ilness so i thought this would be a interesting way of twlling the story from a new angle i also think that no all the fact is important to be able to tell a story properly there is nothing worse than watching somthing and it fades the truth of the illness and makes it loose its clarity. i also used this as my stimulus cause it fits well with the queen research i did and the aids concert he also held and infact died of so i felt the performance aspect would still work.
strengths - it will add a message to the story and give the peice room to grow it is also somthing that is hard hitting so it would add contrast to a mother daughter performance aspect.
weakness- the only trouble with doing this would be that i dont get my fact straight and the peice becomes cheesy i think this would take away from the focus of the illness.

here are some tv scripts - tv scripts have detailed descriptions of scenery and actions
http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/writersroom/scripts/in-the-flesh-s1-ep1.pdf
a screenplay can be a original peice or can be an adaptation from other pieces of writing . They contain movement, actions, expression, and dialogues of the characters are also narrated. A play for television is also known as a teleplay. - in this i like how the writer includes so much discription within his scenes it makes it more clear for the audince to watch
written format of a film
The format usually has one page that make up to 1 min of screen time . The standard font for a screenplay is 12 point, 10 pitch courier Typeface
it mainly contains action and dialogue . the scripts are usually in present text (action). The "dialogue" are as if spoken .screenplays use slug lines whereas stage play wouldn't.
The format consists of three aspects:
- The interplay between typeface/font, line spacing and type area, from which the concept of one page of text per one minute of screen time is derived, but is in practice only used as a ball park estimation, and often bears little resemblance to the running time of the final movie.[2] In the United States letter size paper and Courier 12 point are mandatory; Europe uniformly uses A4 as the standard paper size format using 12 point 10 pitch Courier as per the US.
- The tab settings of the scene elements (dialogue, scenes headings, transitions, parentheticals, etc.), which constitute the screenplay's layout.
- The dialogue must be centered and the names must be capitalized. A script usually begins with "FADE IN:", followed by the first scene description. It might get more specific, e.g. "FADE IN ON AN ECU of Ricky as he explains the divorce to Bob." A script will usually end with "FADE TO BLACK", though there are variables, like "CUT TO BLACK" for abrupt endings.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screenplay
this is more research that i have gone into on my written side of the scripts this research gives me an exact point of how i write a tv scripts i like the idea of using a slug line and to make my script more efficient i will use theses
Screenplay formats
Screenplays and teleplays use a set of standardizations, beginning with proper formatting. These rules are in part to serve the practical purpose of making scripts uniformly readable "blueprints" of movies, and also to serve as a way of distinguishing a professional from an amateur. It is very important that the correct format is used, as otherwise the script is likely to be disregarded very quickly. There are practical reasons for this. An incorrectly formatted script can be very difficult for actors to read from, when testing the script out. If you are unsure exactly what is required, then at least be consistent, and keep things as simple as possible.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screenplay
Feature film
Motion picture screenplays intended for submission to mainstream studios, whether in the US or elsewhere in the world, are expected to conform to a standard typographical style known widely as studio format which stipulates how elements of the screenplay such as scene headings, action, transitions, dialog, character names, shots and parenthetical matter should be presented on the page, as well as the font size and line spacing.
One reason for this is that, when rendered in studio format, most screenplays will transfer onto the screen at the rate of approximately one page per minute. This rule of thumb is widely contested — a page of dialog usually occupies less screen time than a page of action, for example, and it depends enormously on the literary style of the writer — and yet it continues to hold sway in modern Hollywood.
There is no single standard for studio format. Some studios have definitions of the required format written into the rubric of their writer's contract. The Nicholl Fellowship, a screenwriting competition run under the auspices of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, has a guide to screenplay format.[3] A more detailed reference is The Complete Guide to Standard Script Formats.[4]
Screenplays are usually 90-120 pages long, Comedies and children's films usually shorter.
Screenplays are almost always written using a monospaced font, often a variant of Courier or Courier New, both mostly used as 12 pt font. This is preferred due to its clarity.
Television[edit]
For American TV shows, the format rules for hour-long dramas, like CSI, and single-camera sitcoms, like Scrubs, are essentially the same as for motion pictures. The main difference is that TV scripts have act breaks. Multi-camera sitcoms like I Love Lucy use a different, specialized format that derives from radio and the stage play. In this format, dialogue is double-spaced, action lines are capitalized, and scene headings, character entrances and exits, and sound effects are capitalized and underlined.
Drama series and sitcoms are no longer the only formats that require the skills of a writer. With reality-based programming crossing genres to create various hybrid programs, many of the so-called "reality" programs are in a large part scripted in format. That is, the overall skeleton of the show and its episodes are written to dictate the content and direction of the program. The Writers Guild of America has identified this as a legitimate writer's medium, so much so that they have lobbied to impose jurisdiction over writers and producers who "format" reality-based productions. Creating reality show formats involves storytelling structure similar to screenwriting, but much more condensed and boiled down to specific plot points or actions related to the overall concept and story.
Documentaries[edit]
The script format for documentaries and audio-visual presentations which consist largely of voice-over matched to still or moving pictures is different again and uses a two-column format which can be particularly difficult to achieve in standard word processors, at least when it comes to editing or rewriting. Many script-editing software programs include templates for documentary formats.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screenplay
i have put this in because it shows me a varied amount of types of scripts and how to format my own it has also taught me that a sterytype script for each different media aka stage screen and tv is the same around the world it also taught me tha however there is no set format and my script can vary as long as i get the story across.
strengths - i think for my tv script it has helped me to place my camra angles and my scene changes it has also encouraged me to look deeper into how scripts are formatted see above in the flesh from the bcc it aslo helped me see the diffference with my stage script as its slightly differet with having the dialogue and the fact there is more scene sypnopsis with a tv script
how i will use this in my script
i will take on bourd how the structure of a page looks i will also use the typical writing font by using courier .
three things i have developed about my characters in my soap opera
1. she started of as a evil character similar to Lucy branning
2 i then changed into a young more vunerable younger teen charecter
3 this then changed into a person suffering from areas of mental illness
we decided this change so that my character could have more depth and if we were to progress into a second episode my characters arc would grow and unravel more of her back story and create a bond with the audience of sympathy and pull on heart strings. another thing that changed and developed was the plot we started of with random ideas but i very much wanted to keep the plot towards todrovs equilibrium structure a carm beginning followed by a disruption then a resolution however with a tv series being a linear it would be better to leave a storyline we could carry on so we then decided to to leave it on a cliff hanger
in my soap operah things that develped
my story started as a a mother and daughter story where i was going to have the daughter have the illness and the mother to tell the story however this progressed into the mother actually haviung the illness i wanted to then cooparate dance somwhere in the back story as a sub plot to connote dreams and hope and the last link to the daughters mother however i then had to choose a diseae and i was watching a clip form live aids the concert and thought this would be a perfect way to incoperate the performance side of things. have the performance at the end the connotation of this is that the performace is a way of her saying goodbye and ending hwer charecter arc.

soap opera research of mental health disorders
Mental disorders include a wide range of problems, including
- Anxiety disorders, including panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder,post-traumatic stress disorder, and phobias
- Bipolar disorder
- Depression
- Mood disorders
- Personality disorders
- Psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia
There are many causes of mental disorders. Your genes and family history may play a role. Your life experiences, such as stress or a history of abuse, may also matter. Biological factors can also be part of the cause. A traumatic brain injury can lead to a mental disorder. A mother's exposure to viruses or toxic chemicals while pregnant may play a part. Other factors may increase your risk, such as use of illegal drugs or having a serious medical condition like cancer.
Medications and counseling can help many mental disorders.
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/mentaldisorders.html
my charecter livvy is going to suffer from mood disorders she cant control her moods and i will show this in the soap by her having her last meeting with her counciler and explaining to him how she still feels sad it is known that 1 in 10 18 year olds have depression ranging from mild to severe making this perfect for my charecters description. i personally have had mild depression and have been though counciling so i no a little about how it feels and how you put on a brave face with eveyone you know however sometimes you crack and when you do its like an explosion so i think this will be a interesting role for my and ill be bringing alot of mike leigh to my charecter his vision of real life acting .- i think this will benifit my charecters arc as it gives her a understanding of how she is the way s she is and i think by using this research it gives the soap a chance to then later carry on with her charecter arc.

camera ideas
after watching the walking dead i liked the use of the camra shots i think in bernies scene we will use a medium close up so we can see the expressions on her face and to highlight she is on the phone and this is a important section i will also like to use a medium close up with the pregnancy test just showing our faces again to show out emotions and to show the tension in the body i will also use a high angle shot to show pregnancy test and to show how small and vulnerable maisie is here.
opening film scenes
the walking dead
look on pinterst the opening scene of the walking dead season 1 episode 1 the pilot.#
the scene starts with ric the main charecter running out of gas he gets out of his car "wide shot" to see cars burnt and recked. we then see a meduim shot of him standing next to a turned over car to then seeing some shots of childrens toys and chairs like people have been camping here with sghns of blood on the grass indicating violence death till no sighn of any life. we then see a meduim close up of a woman rotting in a car with flys surrounding her. a close up of the main charecters face shows that hes confused about whats going on uncomfortable scared. we then see from ricks point of view under the car a close up of a pair of dirty dagging little girls legs picking up a teddy indicating this is a little girl. the pause before the girl turns round adds tension to the scene. when she does finally turn round her moth is missing and she has blood and cuts around her. the scene ends with rick shooting her.
what was good about this scene - the use of timing kept the audience tense also the fact they didn't show the enemy or who caused the distraction to the end of the scene, the use of the silence other than the flys connotes the fact of death. props and scenery was really good realistic. it did it job of leading the audience into what the show is going to be and i liked the use of the flash back indicating why he is confused.
how can i use this in my own soap - i quite like the idea of keeping somthing hidden and keeping the mystery in the peice going.
i also like the use of closeups on indivdual objects to create the meaning without telling the audience give them somthing to work out.
how i could use this scene - we could use the quick change of shots for our fight scene.
script writing
today we got to do a brain storm of everything you see in a soap and some steryticial things that are seen in programs such as eastenders for example we worked in groups and had to note down everything that we have seen before
in my group emily was originally but had to move so now i have maise lauren and amber we settled on the story of baby snatching and wanted to think how we could also add some sort of death that is usually seen in a soap in the end my character Livy s going to die and my twin the babys mum and bernie are going to be the suspects of both kidnap and murder. i insisted we leave it on a cliff hanger
Script Writing
my back story to my script .Freddie mercury
-lead singer in queen
- rock , hard rock, glam rock - years active -1969–1991 unfortunatly he died of aids/hiv when he cought pneumonia
-Columbia, Polydor, EMI,Parlophone, Hollywood Records
- he died at the age 45yrs
- The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS Awareness to celebrate the life and legacy of Mercury and raise money for AIDS research, which took place on 20 April 1992
how can i put him in my play ?
im think of using his performance skills as a platform for the end and having the play about aids and how it effects the family and friends around it.
What are the complications of having a real/known person in your play?
i think its hard because you don't want the story to appear cheesy by using a famous person so you have to be careful not to stereotype .

The main obstacle or goal in the play? What are they trying to achieve?
they want to make the public aware and to somehow reach a closer from past events
Pitch
Raising awareness to people about aids and how death can effect everyone in the family in ways you least expect

Camera Angles/Movement/Shots
Media Studies. What is so difficult about Media? Well, one of the things that may be a tiny problem for you people is remembering the camera angles/shots/movement. Camera angles. Camera Shots. Camera Movement. How important it that? Well, if we don’t start knowing these now, then we’re going to pass through serious consequences in the future and basically cry our heart out through the stages. Essay’s will walk by you, welcoming you into their arms in their torture if you don’t know one of the key camera shots. Now that is a pain. Well this is how I’m trying to work my way through this. I’m taking the easy ride to success! I’m going to base all the knowledge of camera shots on memory and handwritten (well… typed) in sections of this page. Hopefully it will be useful!
Here is an image that may help you remember most of the camera angles/movement by memory:
This may look like a baby step to you guys but I think that I have to get through the main until I get to the reasons.
HERE IS A LIST OF CAMERA SHOT LENGTHS AND FRAMING TO HELP REMEMBER:
1) Extreme Long Shot (ELS):
Extreme Long Shot’s are used mainly to set the scene of the movie you are trying to create. It usually shows theoutside of a building or even a landscape to give the audience a brief idea of where the scene takes place.

2) Long Shot (LS):
This shot is difficult to use because it determines the actual size of an object you are trying to show. This corresponds with the real distance between the audience and the screen in a cinema or the TV.
The shot requires a FULL SHOT showing the entire human body with the head near the top of the frame and the feet near the bottom, not cropping anything out. The background near human body is still shows but only at the sides.

3) Medium Shot (MS):
A Medium Shot is usually used for dialogue scenes, only showing the human from the waist and upwards. If more than three figures are shown in the scene then this eventually becomes a long shot. People use these shots because they want the audience to concentrate more on the people and very little setting is shown – probably the director has already shown the setting of the scene before this shot and it is no longer needed to be repeated on a wide scale.
The Medium Shot is very similar to the Over-the-shoulder which positions the camera behind a person only showing the back of the head and shoulder.

4) Close-Up Shot (CUS):
A Close-Up Shot is mainly used to concentrate on a face or a particular Mis-en-scene showing very little background. The director may choose to make the background a blur to gain the audience’s attention on what he/she wants to be mainly seen. Close-Up Shots can be focused on objects or a character’s facial expression which takes up the mind of the character.

5) Extreme Close-Up Shot (ECU):
The Extreme Close-Up Shot magnifies beyond what the human eye would imagine in reality. An extreme close-up of a face of a human would only show the eyes or the mouth covering up the whole screen with no background included. This shot is usually used to make a dramatic and tense effect.

By the way… If you are going to study camera shots and framing then you’re going to have a huge essay posted on your doorstep so brace yourself if you think this is too easy to remember!
A LIST OF CAMERA ANGLES:
REMEMBER: Camera angles give away a lot of information than you would expect it to be. Depending on how far away the camera shot is or how close it is, it already sends a message automatically to the audience about the character or object. So be careful!
1) Bird’s-eye view:
A Bird’s-eye view shows a scene from overhead. Overhead of your character or even to show the setting but the shot doesn’t show anything as clearly as you may think it is. This camera shot makes the audience feel like ‘God’ as God watches over everything that happens over our heads. People would look as tiny as ants and that also makes the audience feel tall and proud.

2) High Angle:
This angle is similar to the Bird’s-eye view but not as high up. The camera is slanted in the action, hovering over the sides of the heads. This makes whatever you are trying to focus on smaller and insignificant. This action becomes part of a wider scale.

4) Low Angle:
Low angles are mainly used to give an effect of how small you are to the world. Low angles shots give a sense of powerlessness and makes you feel useful in the scene and this type of camera angle would be useful for short actors like Danny Devito or Tom Cruise.

5) Oblique/Canted Angle:
An Oblique/Canted Angle can be sometimes tilted which is used in many popular horror movies to indicate to the audience that the scene is unstable, or ‘something is going to go wrong’. This shot suggests the ‘point of view’ of a character <- (even hand-held camera’s could be used for this).

A LIST OF CAMERA MOVEMENT:
1) Pans:
This movement scans a scene horizonatally. Strange? Nope. The camera has to be placed on a tripod because soft shake’s of a movement is very sensitive and the audience would be able to access that mistake. The camera is turned to the side to often show a moving object in the middle of the frame.

3) Dolly Shots:
This is sometimes called a ‘trucking’ or a ‘tracking’ shot. The camera is usually placed inside a vehicle or a plane, or mounted anywhere that creates movement if the director wants a complicated dolly shot. The dolly shots generally follow a moving object. The dolly shot is good for following the movement of a human or an object showing the journey from one end to another.

4) Hand-held Camera Shots:
Hand held camera shots are moved by us, humans. This brings the audience to see as if they were inside them movie, witnessing an event that takes place. For instance, if a person is running in front of you and the hand-held camera shot is moving in a jerky unstable way focusing on the person running that may mean that that you are eyeing chasing after them, watching every movement the person is doing in front of you. This type of camera angle is denotating reality when you are running behind another person rather than having a solid, boring camera angle.

Crane Shots are similar to a dolly shot although it moves left, right, centre, up, down, diagonally etc. but in the air by using a large metal stand as you can see on the left here.

6) Zoom Lenses:
A zoom lense is use to change the magnification of an image by either using a close-up shot or a long shot in a camera (photographer) but the photographer standing a metre or two away. A zoom could be played out when the camera focuses on an object burried with other things but then zooms in quickly to face the main subject the director is trying to concentrate on. A zoom lense can be used with a trypod to stabalize.

7) Aerial Shot: Aerial shots are usually taken from a helicopter and is similar to a ‘Crane Shot’. You would usually find an ‘Aerial’ Shot in the beginning of a film to establish the setting and movement. This one is more exciting!
Now we have covered Camera Angles/Movement/Shots and it wasn’t hard was it? Just remember some images and use your brain to think about the four ‘W’ and a ‘H’.

this has taught me how to use the camra angles for my soap as i now no what a medium closup is i will use this when my charecter have a emotional scene i will also use a establishing shot so my audience there setting
strenghts - the strenghts of using different camra shots varies how much the audince gets to see leaving thisngs to the emagination or pointing out things that need to be highlighted . also with camra angles it alows you to change the power of people in your seen a low angle camra can make a person apear small and vunerable where as a high camra angle can make someone look bigger and more powerful for example in a scene with bertie and donna i can use a high angle to make donna small and vunerable. we will also use overe the shoulder shots during a duologue scene this also hides what the other persons face is doing adding a question to the aduisnce using the syringe theroy.
weaknesses- the over use of camra angles can make a soap look cheeply shot so i will try to keep to strytype shot wich are meduimclosup - to meduim with an occational long/ establishing shot. i would love to use a arial shot but these are not usualy used in a soap other than the title sequence unfotantly we can not do this. also most of our shots will be hand held we need to make sure we do not move to much otherwise the shot will be wobbly and difficult to watch.
how i will use this in my tv soap - i shall definatly be using all of above
