He’s just a poor boy. From a poor family.
indicate poverty and wanting more my character in we will rock you can really relate to this and the song is indicating the levels of opportunity given.
wicked a similar style music with the rock edge was shown on Broadway in 2003 making the rocky ier edge to the musical theartre world more open to exception we also saw other shows based on rock and pop artist also become a musical the juke box musicals .
Ben Elton wrote the script and then made it available to schools so its thanks to Ben Elton.
Ben Elton
a very commen play writer . Ben Elton is an English comedian, author, playwright, actor and director. His musical credits include collaborating with Andrew Lloyd Webber on The Beautiful Game in 2000, writing the book and lyrics (Lloyd Webber wrote the music). The Beautiful Game won the London Critics Circle Award for best new musical. Elton went on to write a number of compilation shows featuring popular songs taken from the back catalogues of pop/rock artists. The first of these was the musical We Will Rock You. Despite unfavourable early critical reaction, this was successful in London and won the 2003 Theatregoers' Choice Award for Best New Musical. It has since opened in the US, Australia, Russia, Spain, South Africa, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Canada, and The Netherlands. Elton also directed the 10th Anniversary Arena tour, in 2013. Elton most recently worked with Andrew Lloyd Webber on the sequel to his 1986 blockbuster The Phantom of the Opera, Love Never Dies.freddie mercury
Queen was always indisputably run as a democratic organisation. All four members are each responsible for having penned number one singles for the band. This massive writing strength combined with spectacular lights, the faultless sound, a sprinkling of theatricality and Freddie’s balletic movements made up Queen on stage and on film.
Through Freddie’s ability to project himself and the band’s music and image to the four corners of 70,000 seater venues they became known as the prime developers of stadium rock, a reputation perpetuated by their pioneering tactics in South America where in 1981 they performed to 231,000 fans in Sao Paulo, a world record at the time. They also became known as the key innovators of pop videos as their catalogue of 3-minute clips became more and more adventurous in style, size and content.
While most publicly recognised as the front man to one of the most progressive rock bands of the 70’s, Freddie defied the stereotype. A taste for venturing into new territories – a trait that was to have a marked influence on the direction Queen would take – took Freddie to explore his interests in a wide spectrum of the arts, particularly in the areas of ballet, opera and theatre, even taking a participating role: in October1977 the sell-out audience of a charity gala at the London Coliseum organised by Royal Ballet Principal dance Wayne Eagling received the surprise of an unannounced appearance by a silver-sequinned leotard-clad Freddie performing an intricate routine choreographed for him by Eagling. In 1987 he made a one-night appearance in Dave Clarke’s Time at the Dominion Theatre, although legend has it Freddie occasionally turned up at the theatre to support friend Clarke’s musical, one night selling ice-creams in the stalls! Freddie would have loved the fact that The Dominion now plays host to the band’s phenomenally successful musical We Will Rock You which has now held the Dominion stage nearly seven years longer than Time’s two year run.

This indicates just how big he is and with his performance of big light i was a watching a artical on queens last days and he was such a show man the theatricality is seen in the musical we will rock you. and it proves that he didn't give up Freddie came from Zanzibar, Tanzania a place wich must have been hard to break though this really helps me see how much my characters wanted a chance to be different and im case i can relate my characters to Freddie dreams and personality.

we will rock you mentions freddie mercury as a dream and a fantasy and with the lyrics ben elton has hinted that is this life just fantasy cought in a landslife no escape from reality gives the lyrcs a new meaning and opens up the idea that what we see and what we listen to isnt reall what has happened to poeples belives the muscial really ameks you ask your self what is happening simila in way to what three penny operah does it makes you ask questions.
Historical context
the script represents what music used to be like Some of the knowledge of the bohemians is partially incorrect and that is also key to understanding the piece. the use of Elvis as 'Pelvis' wich is incorrect it proves that you cant take your charecter to seriously . we will rock you chose the futuristic setting as queen was very dramatic for its time what with the music nowadays keeping with the dramatic fashion its now even more so times have changes cds are now out and dowloads are in. queen is less recognised nowadays and it hint that these greats should not be forgotten.
the song one by one indicates alot about not forgetting i think this is what elton wanted to imply with the narrative that his great should or wont be forgotten in 300 years or so forget cultral pop.
the relationship with brit
my character meat is key to Brittany sanity. She is his rock i think meat keeps him together i think she really loves him this is shown when Brittany dies and u see the terror and pain in meat this hurts her bad also in the beginning when the audience first meet meat she tells her shes going to miss her " i no but it gets tougher every time you go away i miss you baby" it proves she cant bare to be apart from him . there is a tie between the two characters that is hard to break i really want this to show in my performance when i perform on stage im going to think of something really special to me.
Cultural Context
i looked on line to see if i could find any interviews with ben elton this is what i found :
'People like comedy of course, but at heart the real reason is it features the greatest rock and pop music ever recorded, music which is all about coming together and having a good time. The success of We Will Rock You has been pretty spectacular which is fantastic of course, not least because Brian [May] and Roger [Taylor] and myself get to keep working on the show we love. We never take it for granted and I personally never lose the thrill of being in the audience as the music brings people to their feet, I’m waving my arms like it’s the first night!'
after finding this on the internet it really helped with i want it all firstly because it pushed aside my thought of having to get my part right and brought the idea to me that this is about performing not being perfect it was bout being and artist with what i do im not playing me up there im playing a character whose role is to entertain the audience.

today was the last show which infact my parents came and saw this made me feel even more nervous however i did my vocal warm up and added a few relaxation techniques to it breathing in and out for ten seconds and visualize a quite place this really helped and i managed to stay carm,
what went well`
the lines were clean and the scene worked however i didnt feel the performance has the same atmosphere and i dont feel me and maisie were bouncing of each other something was missing also my mike had a technical issue so i had to project more perhaps its course i couldn't carry maise as well but ignored the mike issue and focused on my performance i don't think it notices i even stayed in character when tim our mike techie grabbed me under the blogs to give me new battery for my mike.after the technical show i felt the performance picked up and started to feel more like a performance not a rehearsal.
in future what i would different
i would learn my lines a lot earlier as then we can get on with practical easier i would also remain more carm i get stressed very easily with organisation wich is something im working on with counseling sessions.
what i have learnt from this experience
that not everything goes to plan and u need to learn to be flexible with ideas and i have also learnt that timing is everything within a performance r whether its dancing or acting. also patience is needed and you need to trust the people around you and work as a team not as one person alone.

today we had our ofcast show wich mean im only dancing today would have been the day i filmed with tinie temper but due to it being a second commitment and its not professional to be sighned to do jobs i turned it down . however i feel my focus was not with the show and i think this could be why i very rarly freak wehn i forget a dance routine i usually carry on so the audience doesnt notice but i slightly freaked out indicating i was not concetrating.
howevere in future i no i need to stick to one commitemnt and only focus on thst as you cant give your attention to two things so big and there will be other proffesional oppertunitys.
Notes from Rachel:
Josh had a good opening as Freddie Mercury along with the Gaga number also. Everybody on stage together looked extremely strong.
josh and millie had very good interaction with each other
note to self me and maise before tomoro night need to work on this agin relaxing more with each other.
5th
Today we had our first show wich was an evening show me and maisie spent ages before marking though i want it all and adding some choreography as we now had props to use for the first time as before todazy we had never practised any of the scenes with them so in a way the scnene developed even more as we didnt have to visualise what we were doing we could actually do. i actually lead the choreography for i want it all i sugested the levels in the begging of the performance and i took on bored rachels suggestion of me standing at the begging in of the scnene as yes it did make me feel very stagnant i also pushed the idea of us holing hand in the slow chorus break.
what went well witht the perfromance
i felt the energy in my perfromance and that helped me and maise bounce of of each other with our interaction and dialogue i felt completely comfortable with the performance and really enjoyed it .
the audience also joined in with our song "i want it all" this was amazing and lead us to put even more into the performer the interacting with the audience was a new expiericnce and i felt it improved my performnace.
what i did well
i stayed in tune and key with my son i felt i helped carry the song along and supported perfromace i felt i stayed in charecter and gave maise some confidence with her own performance i felt i carried her though the songs and supported her when i felt she needed it . i also remembered my ceus and my lines and and the tempo of the scene was fast ans energetic.
what i need to do for the next show
i need to relax with maisie and not feel so awkward with her i will do this by relaxing and thinking less about what im doing and more bout perfroming i need to forget the whole sexual area.
today i recieved notes from rachel our teacher
i need to make sure i look around when i first come on the stage i also need to improve of on my on stage relationship with maisie it can look and feel a little awkward as this isnt either our sexuality so we have decided to make our relationship simimila to sisters. and this should ease with the awkward moments - i will do this by relaxing and getting into my character more.
4th
this is our final rehearsal day unfortunately i was in a media exam for some of this however before i wen in i sorted the glitch with my media production giving the cast an opportunity to go over the timings with the film and music so Stuart and josh had a chance to rehearse and be sorted for the show.
we also got to see today what the lazer machine will look like the only issues poppey and the bohemians need to be careful of wires for health and safety but the whole effect will look brilliant.
the Bikini wax scene finally got to rehearsed with the media film wich i created the effect is brilliant and looks really alarming and elles and laurens timing will look great with no glitches as its not live streaming having the video live streaming would mean bad quility image and sound and perhaps even static energy so this was the best way foward ive also stated for today that copys are burnt off incase of scratched on disc.
3rd
we were told we wernt going to be doing a run though till four oclock me and maise decided to run though are lines ans things we felt weak on as this would be the most productive thing to do with free time.
First of all we went over our opening scnenes lines with dylan and mel as we have only done this a few times . we desided to act the scene full out as thats the only way u can get the right idea of blocking . i tried playing meat more fierce with more confrontation - this shows my level of control in the scene and proves im just as stong as brittany and i can hold my ground by geting up in mels personal space it shows im top dog and i feel threatened .
we rhen went over i want it all and me and maisie tried some new blocking after setting some frequenct movements and motifs we could both use we started feeling more excited for the show.
my films and media production for the show is now finished however rachel sugested i added a few more images perhaps a guitare with a cross on it unfortuanlty i could find a guitare with a cross on it so i used a normal picture of the intruments in the opening i looked at the original opening to we will rock you and decided to make it my own i have added clips of micheal jacksona and freddie mercury performing i have also used a clip of pop idols opening shot i have dont this cause it will create a prefered reading for the audince making it more interesting for them exciting them for the show and bring down a wall they may have created.
i took the opportunity to look to see how milly and josh interacted and took on bored some of what they were doing i like the bubbly side to millies character so i have expanded my own and added this over all the run though went well and our characters are strong however in scene 10 act one and scne 10 act 2 lines need to be cleaned up and cues to lines need to be more propt the scenes because of this keep loosing energy. to make sure this doesn't happen at the show we all need to go through our lines it would be a good idea to a speed run of lines as if u can say your lined quicky without thinking u no them this was a really good excersies i learnt whilst doing my lamda exam.
i am leading the bohemian rapsody routine at the end i am finding it alot easier to take lead i think i feel more comfortable with the group i also think out influences are really helping me put thing in to perspective.
strenghts of the rehersal
we were all focused and motivated for the day it went really well
my personal acheivment in rehersal
i did two run thoughd in costume and i feel really confident with the whole show
what i need to do
i need to keep my energy up and stay focused i can do this by keeping fresh with my ideas
this week i have also learnt that taking on to much is not good i think proffesional work will have to wait till after college its shame but there will be more.
this week i need to work on my vocalisation and stay relaxed as i need to stay healthy this week i will show rachel the film and see what she thinks.

I don't think the original script is suitable for my school, is there an alternative version?
Yes, Ben Elton has written a separate version of the script that has been deemed more suitable for an under 11s audience. When you purchase your licence you will automatically receive both versions of the script. Don't forget you can always adapt the script to make it more personal to your school.we will rock you website
Wednesday 29th
today we did an extra rehersal outside
what i did/ went well -
i re filmed the bekini wax scene so there is no sound interference How i did this with out interference and how did i keep the process simple and proffesional for both camra man and actress ?
i suggested that charrlotte and grace both wore headphones lugged into there phones connected to either lauren or elle by phone reading there lines back i then told luaren and elle to leave the room when filing so we could ring them i made sure we couldnt see any wires as i had made sure the andgle of the camra and her hair was covering the wire. i then edited the opening scene working the film into the music as this was my production task using previous videos of the same scene helped me develop it i have added pictures as added effect.
i also helped the rest of the group out today by tidy and sorting the props cupbored its very important to work as a team and also gave me ideas for my very own costume. i then helped set up he scenery for heartbreak hotel i suggested having so many ornaments on the blocks could be dangerous as we will be dancing and suggested we surround the blocks instead. me and Maisie went over i want it alll i suggested that we still use the heart break hotel to her as i like the levels its show dominence. the first set choreography felt to rigid so we asked choreographer mel if we could perhaps improvise it more and feel free with it it relaxes the whole performance by doing this. with crazy little thing called love me and Maisie have decided to have a dance break in the instrumental were we will flirt with each other i first suggested this to sam as i felt there was something missing this will really increase the energy of the peace.
what i need to improve on and what i have learnt about my self - i need to relax and learn to go with the flow i have found it hard that not everything is organised as this when im rehersing is how i am i like to get everything done before i break . i need to work on meats vocalization im not sure where to set her character from
what the group needs to improve on -
as a group we need to work on our positive attitude and motivation . however i feel i always try tod do this no matter what the scanryio but i find it hard to stay upeat when few are.
i think this will however improve in the finally show week when we start to see things coming together.
my charecter development
i have decided it will be a good idea for my charecrer cower like a dog when kashogi and her men apear i think this will show my power status in the show and reveal the fear i feel around these baddies.
24th may
tonight i went over my part and script with my mum playing the other charecter and she gave me a few pointers in different places of the script of what would be helpful i have highlighted these notes on my script i think its a good idea that my charecter shows more of her personality gradually towards the end finally opening up when brit dies i also think my movements wich i am now using more of are going to be key to my charecter as they do change the way you speak i think my charecter has a very strong natural stance and i think she struts when she walks when in contrast to dfta alexa was very bouncy and immature meat is a woman who knows how to get what she wants. i am also of book wich is what rachel wanted and what was my feed back i have also worked on my feistyness wich is what my peers have told me to do i have done this by watching other feisty charecters in film and tv and took insperation also from .
Mel gave us some key movements to try and use for the song, and took us through her choreography.
I want it all
i dont come in for the first verse of we will rock you so my part in this verse is to get the audince interested and show the chemistry between me and meat i will do this by clapping running aboout i have studied how freddies
mercury does this.
in the end we had re-arrange our blocking due to editing of the set. we are now not alowed to use the section being used for heart break hotel so we now had to use the opposite side of the stage, me and maise decided not to use mels choreoraphy as we felt it was to stagnet and nothig like our charecters.
my theme for i want it all was to have fun and relax as we were going to be nervous enough as it is.

he struggle for women's rights is by no means over, but there has been significant progress, too. The resurgence of strong women characters in books and movies, such as “The Hunger Games,” is a reflection of this progress. As Kristine Reynaldo, acquisitions editor of Flipside Publishing, says, it's a corollary of having strong women characters in the real world.
Jennifer Lawrence's compelling presence onscreen as Katniss Everdeen carries the film 'The Hunger Games'. Lionsgate Films
"From business to politics to the academe to the artistic community and the media, more and more women are becoming leaders and shapers in their fields," Reynaldo says.
"Though sexism has hardly been eradicated, the world has become a much more conducive place for women, many of whom enjoy the social advances made by feminism. And these women—educated, financially independent, and driven—represent a sizeable chunk of the market," she continues.
Writers who are aware of this have to create characters that are acceptable to their readers. "If writers and producers are to connect with them and not invite backlash, they can’t keep creating heroines who do little more than decorate the scene or the hero’s arm," says Reynaldo, who noted literacy and education are also improving among women.
When it comes to movies, heroines have made their comeback, as well. “'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,' 'Haywire,' 'Young Adult,' and 'The Hunger Games' all featured central female characters who defy the established order, blaze their own trails and enforce rules of their own,” writes film blogger Colin Biggs.
Biggs noted that female-centered films aren't limited to art-house films and literature adaptations, with blockbusters like “Prometheus” featuring two female leads, and Anne Hathaway's Selena Kyle in “The Dark Knight Rises.”
“For years, the expectation of women in films was to meet their Prince Charming and get married before the credits roll,” writes Biggs, adding that this mindset may be fading as audiences seem to be embracing new roles for women.
Young Adult genre
In literature, writer Raissa Rivera Falgui says strong women characters are especially found in the Young Adult category, perhaps because such books are used to teach teenagers. "I think it's because when you're an adolescent, the idea of independence is very important to you, or romantic," Falgui says.
Rooney Mara plays Lisbeth Salander, the titular hacker girl, in 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.'Columbia Pictures
Falgui, who taught English to high school students at Ateneo de Manila University, notes that even boys liked books with strong female characters in them. Among their favorites were Lois Lowry's “Number the Stars,” an adventure set in World War II, and Katherine Paterson's “Bridge to Terabithia,” about two children who imagine a fantasy world together.
Recalling strong female characters from her childhood, such as Annie and Ramona, Falgui says books with strong female characters were not as available as they are now. "Before maybe, it was not so popular and now people are very much into 'The Hunger Games' and other books and movies with strong female characters," she says.
Strong female characters are popular, too, in the Philippines, based on manuscripts that have been submitted to Flipside. According to Reynaldo, most of the novels that were accepted last year were written by women, and featured female protagonists.
"Even in a genre like romance, which is traditionally seen as un-feminist, if not anti-feminist, with its privileging of the romantic relationship above all other aspects of the characters’ lives, and its tendency to portray women as objects to be pursued, the submissions we get try to portray women who come into their own and look out for their interests and act rather than wait to be acted upon," Reynaldo says.
Falgui’s “Woman in a Frame” was inspired by Donna Jo Napoli's “Daughter of Venice.” Both are historical novels with strong female characters. Rather than writing about the mainstream, Falgui prefers to focus on the side stories.
Anne Hathaway as the stunning Selina Kyle, cat burglar extraordinaire, in 'The Dark Knight Rises.'Warner Brothers Pictures
"A lot of them have to do with women in history," says Falgui, who wrote her thesis on women artists in the 19th century. "These people were sort of sidelined, but they were there," she says.
Reynaldo notes that strong women characters are often found in science fiction, fantasy, and a lot of contemporary literature, as well as academic work that privilege traditionally marginalized voices.
In “Woman in a Frame,” some characters are actual figures in history, like the woman revolutionary Agueda Kahabagan. "We have to revise people's review also of the past...every now and then there's a woman mentioned but you don't see where they are as a part of the bigger, more organized efforts," Falgui says.
"I guess I have a tendency to use strong female characters," says Falgui, who believes it's important for readers to be exposed to such characters not necessarily so that they will imitate them, but so that they know they are approved of.
"So that they get the idea that these behaviors are approved of, whether that's their actual personality or not, that it's okay for them to be outspoken and to try new things," she says.
According to Falgui, a lot of strong female characters are found in mysteries and historical fiction, perhaps because these are a step removed from reality. "In real life, I think grown up women would rather be rescued. We are strong these days, it's just that we kind of wish we didn't have to be sometimes. A lot of women's literature is escapism, but there are some still which have strong female characters," she says.
On the other hand, Reynaldo notes that strong women characters can also be found in romance novels, "especially the kind that caters to the young, ambitious, urban woman trying to balance her career and love life, who acknowledges her desires and goes after them."
In certain cases, there are strong female characters, but they end up having it all. "It's not that easy for most women to have it all, so it becomes a problem for fiction. A woman can have a strong personality... but the focus really is on problems. They have to make compromises, because that's how reality is," Falgui says.
The resurgence of strong women characters in books and film shows that things aren't simply black and white—princes can be afraid, princesses can shoot arrows, and happy endings are just the beginning. —KG, GMA News
i like how this relates to we will rock you as my charecter is trying to stand up for what she belives after i read this i kinda had more of a understanding of meat and how she feels she has to prove her self and i believe everyone has felt like that my self included i think when it comes to my peformance i can put more of my self into it.
1) Skills audit - What do i feel strongest at and why?Key: 1 - strongest, 3 - weakest.
1 - Dance
Why? I have been dancing for years in shows and i have done paid work in this feild from this i no its my stongest.
2 - Acting
Why? i love to act i have done tv work and lamdas for years i no this is also a stong section of my three
3) i no singing is my weakest as my cinfidence in this area is not there
my annotation my script i can clearly see what i need to do and improve upon.
22nd may
I recorded Ben talking for my production role which is on disc ready for the performance the plan of action is to record everything so theirs no live streaming as there is the issue that something could go wrong on the night with the scenes pre filmed we can have more than one copy if there are technical issues. we also finished one vision and i recapped one vision film coming another difference with my characters in dfta and we will rock you is that in we will rock u im a strong leader whereas in dfta i am slightly shy and im lead by the rest of the group my main challenge is that im playing a lesbian and that i have to change from happy to sad at the death of my girlfriend. the two characters are completely different and im really enjoying my challenge.
i need to -
become more confident acting with Maisie i still feel quite shy in front of the class which is strange as in dfta i was completely relaxed i think this is because the part is out of my comfort zone as i am far from anything like meat so i think i just need to get used to the part.
what went well- my vocals approach on meat is getting there im starting to use a more fierce shouty voice however im going to try playing meat in different ways maybe in different accents as in we will rock you she has a slight accent.

We Will Rock You (often abbreviated as WWRY) is a musical based on the songs of Queen with a book by Ben Elton. The musical tells the story of a group of Bohemians who struggle to restore the free exchange of thought, fashion, and live music in a distant future where everyone dresses, thinks and does the same. Musical instruments and composers are forbidden, and rock music is all but unknown.
Directed by Christopher Renshaw and choreographed by Arlene Phillips, the original West End production opened at the Dominion Theatre on 14 May 2002, with Tony Vincent, Hannah Jane Fox, Sharon D. Clarke and Kerry Ellis in principal roles. Although the musical was at first panned by critics, it has become an audience favourite, becoming the longest-running musical at the Dominion Theatre, celebrating its tenth anniversary on 14 May 2012.[1][2]
A number of international productions have since followed the original, and We Will Rock You has been seen in five of the world's continents. Many productions are still active globally.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/We_Will_Rock_You_(musical)
According to Brian May, Queen's manager Jim Beach had spoken with the band about creating a jukebox musical with Queen's songs since the mid-1990s. Initially, the intent was to create a biographical story of Freddie Mercury. About this time, Robert De Niro's production company Tribeca expressed interest in a Queen musical, but it found the original idea difficult to work with.[3]
In the year 2000, Ben Elton was approached to start talks with May and Taylor on the project. Unfortunately this just coincided with a headline that The Times Newspaper called "Is Elton going to sell out?". Elton suggested taking the musical down a different path than initially imagined, creating an original story that would capture the spirit of much of their music. He worked closely with May and Taylor to incorporate Queen's songs into the story. Elton has also stated that he was in part inspired by the computer-controlled dystopia of the science-fiction film The Matrix. The script was eventually completed midway through 2001.[3] Before working on We Will Rock You, neither May nor Taylor liked the musical genre.[3]
The original London production began previews on 26 April 2002 and opened on 14 May 2002 at the Dominion Theatre. The show is currently still playing there, and on 24 May 2012 celebrated its 10th anniversary.
Productions [edit]
West End and UK tour [edit]
The original production of We Will Rock You opened on 12 May 2002 at the Dominion Theatre in London, England. Tony Vincent played the lead role of Galileo, with Hannah Jane Fox as Scaramouche, Sharon D. Clarke as Killer Queen, Nigel Planer as Pop, Nigel Clauzel as Brit and Kerry Ellis as Meat. For her performance, Clarke was nominated for "Best Performance in a Supporting Role in a Musical or Entertainment" at the 2003 Olivier Awards.
On 17 August 2005 We Will Rock You became the longest running musical at that venue, surpassing the previous record-holder Grease.[6] This is a notable achievement because the Dominion Theatre is one of the largest theatrical venues in West End, with a seating a capacity of 2,163 patrons. The show recently extended its run at the theatre, meaning that the show is currently running until October 2013. At the 2011 Laurence Olivier Awards, the show won the Audience Award for Most Popular Show.[7]
the replacment cast was formed with Mig Ayesa, who played Galileo, taking over from Tony Vincent. Mazz Murray took over the role of Killer Queen . Murray left the production in August 2011, which made her the longest running principle cast membe. . On 22 September 2008 I'd Do Anything semi-finalist, Rachel Tucker, began performing in the role of Meat. She left the production on 19 September 2009. The role was then taken on by Irish born performer Louise Bowden, who had already performed in several prolific musicals including Mama Mia, Guys and Dolls and Mary Poppins.[8] Bowden unexpectedly quit the production in May 2010. It was then left to Amanda Coutts to perform the role Meat. Coutts was originally Bowden's understudy. The West End production features a nine piece live band under the musical direction of Stuart Morley.[9]
On 5 September 2006, the London show celebrated what would have been Freddie Mercury's 60th birthday. During the song "Don't Stop Me Now", ordinarily sung by Killer Queen, the band "McFly" (who were at No. 1 with the song on the singles charts the previous week) emerged onto the stage to sing it instead.[62] Brian May and Roger Taylor joined the encore, performing Taylor's "Say It's Not True" as a duo. Ben Elton also addressed the audience on this special occasion. The following week, tickets to the London show were sold from £19.46, Mercury's birth year.
On 14 May 2007, the London show celebrated its fifth anniversary with a special show featuring both May and Taylor playing in the final section of the show. Writer Ben Elton also made an appearance to present a special plaque to the cast, May and Taylor. During the portion of the show based in Pop's bar, the line "But the Pub Landlord has a Bike" was followed by a cameo appearance of British comedian Al Murray, who came up through the stage on a motorcycle.[63]
The London show's sixth anniversary performance was held on 21 May 2008, a week after its actual anniversary due to the unavailability of Brian May. For the first time since the show opened, the Killer Queen character performed the entire song "Don't Stop Me Now", a musical number which is normally interrupted by the Khashoggi character. This unique performance is acknowledged by Killer Queen's dialogue: "No, you didn't let me finish, you never let me finish. For six long years, night after night, week after week, year after year. Well, tonight, I'm going to finish." To which Khashoggi replied: "It's not in the script!" The Killer Queen proceeded to yell "Screw the script!" before continuing the song. Additionally, May joined Killer Queen and the dancers on stage for the performance. After the encore, Elton made a thank you speech, after which the entire cast performed "The Show Must Go On", accompanied by May on guitar.
The seventh anniversary of the London Show was celebrated on Monday 18 May 2009. The show contained a special appearance from Brian May and Ben Elton who emerged together in a cloud of smoke during the encore rendition of "Bohemian Rhapsody" with May playing guitar. As with the year before, Elton gave a thank you speech and the entire cast performed "The Show Must Go On", accompanied by May on guitar.
On Saturday 12 September 2009 at the early matinee performance Brian May again emerged in a cloud of smoke playing the guitar in "Bohemian Rhapsody". What was the occasion for this appearance is not clear. He did the same again on Saturday 14 November 2009 at the matinee.
On Sunday 31 January 2010 in The O2 Dublin, Brian May once again played Bohemian Rhapsody with the company during the finale of both the matinee and evening shows to celebrate the end of their year long tour.
On Saturday 5 September 2010 Brian also appeared though a cloud of smoke, again to play "Bohemian Rhapsody". This was due to the annual cast change, as well as a celebration of what would have been Freddie Mercury's 64th birthday, and afterwards Brian gave a farewell speech to the cast that were leaving.
Shows with Queen [edit]
Queen guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor often perform at premieres and special events. Bassist John Deacon left Queen in 1997, and hasn't performed with the 2 others since.
When Bohemian Rhapsody is performed with Brian and Roger, Brian comes up from a trap in the stage with a lot of smoke (only at Dominion Theatre. Elsewhere he is walking from the Wembley gate in the back, to the front of stage.) He performs the solo right before the opera section. Then the opera section begins, he walks off stage. Doing the headbanging section Roger comes up on the Heartbreak Hotel platform and Brian runs back on stage (only at Dominion Theatre. Elsewhere Roger's drum kit is being pushed by stage crew and Brian runs on stage.) They perform the headbanging section with the cast and the low key section. They end it all with a big ending before the stage goes into blackout.

21 may extra rehersal
today i filmed the bekini wax scene with both grace and Charlotte this is for my production role i also went through the rest of the script and picked out any media scenes there.
we did a the first run through of act one with maise i feel my character has changed and progressed i am now more feisty however i am finding it hard to get the balance of a lesbian compared to my straight character in dont feed the animals. we also staged a crazy little thing called love with he routine video coming . and we blocked brit and meats scene with the stage setting we enter stage left from behind the blocks and slowly creep to center stage where we reveal what we have found its alot easier having the stage setting there again its completely different to dfta cause we had very little physical staging so having the set really helps develop character as you get a feel of where they come from when we rehearsed a crazy little thing called love i produced the idea of having a partner routine for the instrumental to break up the group dance i think this highlights the main characters and gives us as cast a chance to reveal our character personality to the audience because u can tell alot by how someone moves . i also get the chance to show a more raw side of meat when Brittany dies i really enjoy playing serious roles it mixes things up i feel when Brittany dies its a huge scene its the turning point of the whole play and i think many character change and become closer. i think meat has to let go and get rid of this wall she has up and show that she also feels like evryone esle and i think this is the point when the audience can sympathies with my character i have asked ben to help with the staging of this bit i feel he need to hold be back from killing myself and dangering galalio and scara and i think its necessary to feel the tension in this scene im going to put my passion into this scene and thisnk i would feel in this charecters possision.
i feel i have really started to connect with my character and im getting more of a gist of the emotional patherway she takes and i think this will show in my performance.
i need to focus on what im doing and i really need to learn my lines i think as a group in rehearsal we all meet to concentrate more.
14th may
today we went over one vision and set the song i have a video coming i helped amy choreograph the beginning of the routine i gave her some ideas.
targets
i need to learn the routine
we also did act two im not in act two really so other than the flash routine where we have to act like were being electrocuted we also did the seven seas of rye scene here we have to act like zombie, i suggested that we have bohemians clustered up one end with poppy and the bar on the oppisite side were the bohemians could travel over to the bar area for there drinks indicating how drunk they were on the wiskie i think i would also be a good idea to perhaps have a bar image on the projector giving the audience a visual stimulus with the bohemians in a tableux freeze frame or perhaps hovering front centre stage interacting with the audience drunks hahah i got this t ideas from zombie films as they usually group together i thought this would look good i play cliff richard in the off cast so i actually get to stagger perhaps this is were my idea came from i have taken real life ecpirences for this aswell how people in bars actually interact . i also concentrated on production i went through the script and added any lighting that was needed i was thinking perhaps a low key light for the bar scene with a green glow simila to lighting seen in wicked..
13th
today we needed to create our street dance so we spent the two hours doing this i also got images for we will rock you back drop producution work
i also went through the scnenes with maisie who plays brittany i need to make more charecter feisty and we need to block our scenes this will make the whole scene flow better and we need to learn are line by learning our lines means we dont need to hold scropts giving us more room for movement.
what went well
we new lines for our first scene we seem to bounce of each other with energy mmm we also decided how lesbian we were going to be wich is quite a challenge im going to look at femal relationships
what i need to do
we need to get famila with the stage blocking its very different as dfta we had very little setting compared to we will rock you so we need to take advantage of this.
8th may
today we learnt the dance to radio gaga video coming soon
i also went through my lighting productuon role
i was thinking by having a spotlight on the cage it will highlight the scene and by making the rest of the stage utter black out it should make the scnen more dramatic .
charecter role reseasrch
Meat Loaf
Meat Loaf is Britney's partner and a fellow member of the Bohemians. Although sceptical that Galileo may be The Dreamer, she travels with Britney to take him to the Heartbreak Hotel to meet the other Bohemians. Whilst there, she and Britney are captured by the Ga Ga Cops and later brainwashed, but are freed in the end by the Power Of Rock.

6th march
we started we will rock you today we did our blocking of act one and marked through our songs this is completly different to the read through we did of the script .
we have decided to have the rehersal were we kept both groups together rehersing at the same time my charecter is very bubbly but tough feisty person so i have resched previous meats im going to base her on rachel tuckers version and i think she will be a bit like rachel berry tough and strong determined to get what she wants and glinda from wicked the liht bubbly cute self .eeech i would like to put a bit fo a different twist on the charecter and by taking ideas from different places i think it will be successful .
also i looked at how rachel tucker starts a charecter
hello!
Hi Tarryn. That must be quite tough, but I would use my experiences to make the role and character as real as possible. It might hurt inside but if you're getting across the right emotions then you are doing a good job! Good luck!http://www.stylist.co.uk/home/lunchtime-masterclass-rachel-tucker#image-rotator-1

auditions for musical theartre-
auditions for musical theartre are differet for those for tv work.
i usually wear all black and have my hair down unless i am dancing wich is tied back with no jewlery and leotard and leggings with a tight top to show fitness and correct foot wear i wear minimal makeup as its bad to look like drag queen. i usually take change of clothes aswell as you should always expect the unexpected by this i mean i take a range of songs i know suited to the style of play im going to i take food and plenty to drink.
auditions for tv -
as i have said expect the unexpected tv auditions can either be a personal short interview and quick shots with a brief act of a scene or can be entirely done infront of a camra for this i give my profile my side view and then say my name and begin. i have been to auditions were i have been cuing for hours and in some cases never to be seen. i have learnt that tv is more about how you look and may fit the role than your actual talent theres no point going for a indian charecter if your white with blue eyes i have aslo found if they ask you to bring your own material its better to pick somthing around your age and gender.for a tv aiditon i usualy wear somthing comfortable but pretty and i wear my hair down with highlighting makeup.
dos and donts in a audition-
dos - always be polite and patient in a audition or interwiew
- expect the unexpected come preapred
- always research the peice you are auditioning for
- always look enthusiastic and easily aproachable
donts
- dont be bitchy or over intimidating directors want someon who can work in a group
- dont wear somthing over the top and to much makeup
- dont have a out of date head shot
- dotn think you already have the part

for my audition for we will rock you and chicago and nattional theartre we had to choose 2 songs contrasing each other. i choose popular from wicked and you must love me from evita . i was originally going to do "i deamed a dream" but voice was still not strong enough after loosing it the week before and i didnt want to make this a problem so i changed the song to somthing i could sing with out showing my voice loss on the higer notes that i can hit.
i pared with grace to do a dueloge we took it in turns in reherdals together to see who would be better at wich part and i felt comfortable with my charecter.
i feel my confidence in this audition for my singing as improved hugy and i only hope this progress will continue though the year im finally starting to enjoy singing. instead of just dance and acting however i still feel my singing could improve and i need to work on not going flat and my volume.
